How do I get there?
The nearest airports are Milan Linate (about 1 hour by car), Milan Malpensa and Bergamo (each about 1 hour 15 minutes). By train, go to Como, which is about 15 minutes away by taxi. Bus C31 from Como stops in Molina, right by the house. The last stretch to the house is a steep footpath, so travel light.
Do I need a car?
We recommend one, especially at weekends when buses run less often. There is no parking at the house; the free public car park is about 350 m away up the main road. On Thursdays about a quarter of it is closed for the market, so watch the signs. You can drop your luggage at the start of the 150 m donkey path that leads to the house. Around dinner time it gets busy, so park along the street, but never in disabled or neighbours' spaces.
Can I swim in the lake?
Yes. A footpath leads down to the beaches at Lido di Faggeto and the Water Experience Center, 25 minutes on foot down and 40 minutes back up. Down there you find several restaurants, a beach club and two places to rent boats and SUPs, and you can go waterskiing. Beach towels are in the house.
When can I stay?
From spring to autumn, and over New Year. The bedrooms have air conditioning for hot summer nights, and the house is heated for cooler days.
Where do I buy groceries?
There is a small supermarket in the village next to the restaurant Antica Molina, and an excellent butcher, Macelleria Pennino, in Pognana Lario. For a bigger shop, stock up on your way in, for example in Como.
Can I reach the house with limited mobility?
Unfortunately not. The last 50 m to the house are a steep footpath, and inside and around the house there are many stairs. We do not recommend the house for people with walking difficulties or who use a wheelchair.
Is the house suitable for small children?
Children are welcome, but the house is not ideal for small children. Besides the steep path, there are stairs in the house and on the property, and some raised spots have no railing, so small children need constant supervision. We have 2 baby cots.
Is there cleaning during longer stays?
For stays of a week or more, we change towels and bed linen mid-week and give the house a light clean. Just tell us if you don't need it.
How do payment and deposit work?
You pay 30 % when you book and the rest automatically 7 days before arrival. In addition, a refundable deposit of 1,000 € is reserved on your card and released after your stay if nothing is damaged.
